What you could save

Each unit your system produces and you use is a unit you no longer buy from Kenya Power. At about KSh 29 a unit, that is worth up to:

SystemEstimated saving a monthEstimated cash payback
5 kWhup to about KSh 7,400about 3.3 years
7.5 kWhup to about KSh 11,000about 2.6 years
10 kWhup to about KSh 14,700about 2.4 years
15 kWhup to about KSh 22,100about 2.3 years

Estimates, reached only if you use at least as many units as the system generates. Your saving depends on your own consumption, when you use it and your tariff. The savings calculator works it out on your bill.

Why solar quotes in Kenya vary so much

Two "10 kWh" quotes can differ by a lot because they describe different things: lead-acid against lithium, nominal against usable battery capacity, equipment-only against installed, or a missing changeover switch. Our nine-point quote checklist shows what to compare, and the battery guide explains the biggest difference.

Paying monthly

We finance in-house over 12, 24 or 36 months with no bank and no collateral beyond the system. The full table of deposits and payments, and the test for whether paying monthly is right for you, is in our solar financing guide.

Common questions

How much does a solar system cost in Kenya?

Our installed prices are KSh 289,000 for a 5 kWh system, KSh 349,000 for 7.5 kWh, KSh 429,000 for 10 kWh and KSh 599,000 for 15 kWh. Each includes panels, a hybrid inverter, a lithium battery, mounting, changeover switch, earthing, installation and commissioning. Transport outside Nairobi is quoted separately.

Do your solar prices include installation?

Yes. Supply, installation, the changeover switch, earthing and commissioning are all in the price. The only extra is transport and travel for sites outside Nairobi, which we quote at survey.

Is there VAT on solar systems in Kenya?

No. Specified solar equipment is VAT-exempt in Kenya, so there is no VAT to add to our prices.

What brands of solar equipment do you install?

Our systems use Jinko bifacial panels, Deye hybrid inverters and LiFePO4 lithium batteries.
